After sending Augustus R. Terhune age 84 years old at the time, who lived in Delray Beach Florida, On the form he stated that he was in the Army Corp of Engineers and had rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. The medals he received he noted ‘the usual’, but only for those who served. The medals are: Mediterranean Theater Ribbon Rome, Arno, Tunisia, Campaign, American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. The Terhune family name runs deep in Bergen County, a walk through most local cemeteries in Hackensack and surrounding towns will sometimes pre-date the Civil War.
